BASF will build a plant in Shanghai that can produce what are known as spring aids for about 5 million vehicles per year. The plant will be the German firm's third in Asia and sixth worldwide for such components. According to BASF, nine out of 10 auto manufacturers use its polyurethane spring aids, which dampen vibrations and reduce noise levels in springs.
