DuPont has commercialized two new film series designed to encapsulate and provide long-term protection to solar cells. One series, PV5300, is rigid ionomer-based films that make it possible to incorporate photovoltaics into roofing tiles. The other series, PV2500, based on polyvinyl butyral polymers, is designed to extend the efficiency and service life of thin-film solar units.
