CoorsTek has opened a new manufacturing facility in Golden, Colo., for bulletproof composites. The privately held firm, once part of beer maker Adolph Coors, uses silicon carbide, high-density alumina, transparent ceramics, aramid fibers, and carbon fibers to make lightweight composite armor panels. The firm also manufactures bulletproof composites at a facility in Ogdensburg, N.Y.
