Nanotubes Used In Kayak Prototypes

The Norwegian research firm Re-Turn has made kayak prototypes incorporating Bayer MaterialScience’s Baytubes carbon nanotubes in their gel coats. The nanotubes absorb UV radiation and make the hulls of the boats more resistant to abrasion. Re-Turn hopes to eventually use the technology in wind-turbine blades.
