BASF is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Cellasto, a microcellular polyurethane elastomer used in automotive spring elements to dampen vibration. The materials were created by engineers working at what was known as Elastogran in 1961. Now, BASF says, nine out of 10 automakers use Cellasto. It is also used in elevators, cranes, and other applications.
