Borealis has acquired the French nitrogen fertilizer maker PEC-Rhin from Total. PEC-Rhin had been owned by BASF and Total. BASF had intended to sell its 50% interest in the venture, along with the rest of its fertilizer business, to Russia’s EuroChem, but Total intervened with a preemptive option to buy out BASF’s stake. Total then sold the entire operation to Borealis.
