Workers prepare samples of potassium salt at K+S’s new research center.

Potash maker K+S has opened a $34 million analytic and research center in Unterbreizbach, Germany. The center, which took two years to build, provides 97,000 sq ft of lab space for about 100 scientists and engineers. K+S says the center will help it to advance product and process developments and to research improvements in extracting and processing rock and potash salts.
