Aluminum helped cut 700 lb from the F-150’s weight, according to Ford.

Dow Chemical has revealed that it is supplying its Betamate structural adhesives for Ford’s 2015 F-150 pickup truck, which debuted last November. The F-150 is unique in its use of aluminum alloy in the front end, cab, box, and tailgate. Because aluminum is difficult to weld, automakers often glue parts instead.
