Merck KGaA has spent $6 million to expand a research facility in Shanghai that develops new liquid-crystal mixtures for displays manufactured in China. The lab will expand Merck’s support capabilities for customers in China, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of displays. Merck calls itself the world’s leading producer of liquid crystals used in televisions.
