The Canadian waste-to-chemicals firm Enerkem claims to have hit all operational milestones set by the main lender for its new facility in Edmonton, Alberta. The plant, which Enerkem calls the world’s first of its kind, uses gasification and catalytic synthesis to turn household waste into methanol and ethanol. The company is also exploring projects in the U.S., Europe, and China.
