Enerkem gets funding from Chinese firm

China’s Sinobioway Group has injected $100 million into Enerkem, a developer of waste-to-biofuels systems. Enerkem runs a plant in Edmonton, Alberta, that produces ethanol, methanol, and other chemicals from noncompostable or nonrecyclable municipal waste. The two companies hope to sell 100 Enerkem systems in China by 2035.
