PILI raises funds for biotech textile dyes

Paris-based start-up PILI has raised $3 million from investors to support development of biotechnology-derived textile dyes, which it claims have lower environmental impact than chemical dyes. Investors include the start-up accelerators Fashion for Good and SOSV, the crowdfunding platform WiSEED, and Bpifrance. PILI makes its dyes and pigments using enzymatic technology.
