Ascensus Specialties, which says it is the largest global producer of dry and liquid sodium borohydride, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Callery, an expert in alcoholates, borane derivatives, and other highly reactive chemistries. The deal will unite Ascensus, once part of Dow and now owned by private equity firm Wind Point Partners, with a former BASF unit now in the hands of another private equity firm, Edgewater Capital Partners. Ascensus says the deal will make it the leading reagents maker supplying pharmaceutical and specialty industrial markets.
