Entegris acquires Digital Specialty Chemicals

by Michael McCoy
May 4, 2019 | A version of this story appeared in Volume 97, Issue 18

The electronic materials firm Entegris has acquired Digital Specialty Chemicals for an undisclosed sum. Based in Toronto, DSC is a maker of organometallic precursors used to deposit thin films during semiconductor fabrication. Entegris expects DSC to have sales of up to $20 million this year. For Entegris, DSC is something of a consolation prize. In January, Entegris signed a deal to merge with the large electronic chemical maker Versum, but it lost out when Merck KGaA swooped in with a better offer.
