India’s Ipca acquires rival Ramdev Chemical

The Indian pharmaceutical-chemical maker Ipca Laboratories has acquired Ramdev Chemical for about $16 million. Like Ipca, Ramdev produces fine chemicals, drug intermediates, and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). It has annual sales of about $11 million and 170 employees. Ipca acquired the British pharmaceutical chemistry firm Onyx Scientific in 2011 and the North Carolina API maker Pisgah Labs last year.
