PCBL to acquire water treatment firm Aquapharm

The Indian carbon black maker PCBL has agreed to acquire Aquapharm Chemicals, a producer of water treatment chemicals, for about $455 million. PCBL says it aims to become a multiplatform global specialty chemical company. Aquapharm makes phosphonates, biodegradable chelating agents, polymers, biocides, and oil field chemicals. It had sales of about $250 million in its most recent fiscal year.
