Syensqo, the former specialty chemical arm of Solvay, has acquired a controlling stake in Azerys, a Moroccan firm that extracts food preservatives and other compounds from rosemary. Separately, Syensqo will work with the enzyme engineering start-up Allozymes to develop enzymes for skin care and other home and personal care markets. Syensqo says that deal complements its recent purchase of the South Korean ceramides specialist JinYoung Bio.
