Bayer to buy strawberry unit

Bayer is entering the strawberry business.

The agricultural chemical, seed, and pharmaceutical company Bayer is entering the strawberry business with the purchase of strawberry assets of the England-based NIAB, formerly known as the National Institute of Agricultural Botany. Bayer says strawberries are the fastest-growing fruit crop in terms of consumer demand. They also account for 23% of fresh fruit sales.
