The Sinopec subsidiary Hainan Baling Chemical New Material has started up a $280 million styrene-butadiene copolymer (SBC) plant in China. The plant has annual capacity of 120,000 metric tons (t) for styrene-butadiene-styrene and 50,000 t for styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene. Sinopec says the expansion makes it the world’s largest producer of SBC.
