Roche names Aviv Regev head of research

Aviv Regev will become head of research and early development at Roche’s Genentech unit on Aug. 1. She will replace Michael Varney, an organic chemist who is retiring after 15 years with Genentech. Regev, a computational biologist, has posts at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
