BASF has opened an 11,000-m2 research center in Ludwigshafen, Germany, with labs and offices for its 200 materials and systems researchers who had previously been in various buildings around the site. The facility cost about $55 million and was built using materials developed by BASF, such as its Slentex inorganic aerogel-based insulation panels.
