Altana buys US instrument firm

Germany-based Altana has acquired Imaginant, a US company that develops and produces test and measurement instruments that are based on ultrasound. Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition enables Altana to enter the growth market of testing and measuring in the semiconductor industry, the company says. Applications in the sector include detecting cracks and cavities within electronic components. Altana will integrate Imaginant into BYK, its instrument division.
