Sika will acquire MBCC Group, the former construction chemical arm of BASF, for $5.9 billion from the venture capital firm Lone Star Funds. Lone Star bought the business from BASF in 2020 for about $3.6 billion. MBCC is set to post sales of $3.1 billion for 2021. It has about 7,500 employees and over 130 production sites. The deal will create a company with sales of $14 billion in 2023 and generate annual savings of up to $190 million by 2025, Sika predicts.
