To gain approval from the US Federal Trade Commission for its $1.4 billion acquisition of BASF’s pigment business, announced in August 2019, Japan’s DIC will sell its pigment plant in Bushy Park, South Carolina. The sale of the facility, operated by DIC’s Sun Chemical subsidiary, will incur a loss of $83 million, DIC says. DIC and BASF plan to close the deal later this quarter if they can clear the regulatory hurdles.
