Solugen raises funds for sugar-derived hydrogen peroxide

The start-up Solugen has raised close to $19 million in series A fundraising. The firm, one of C&EN’s 2018 class of 10 Start-Ups to Watch, uses an enzyme discovered by cofounder Gaurab Chakrabarti to convert glucose and oxygen into H2O2 and gluconic acid. Solugen hasn’t named its backers or disclosed its plans for the funds.
