Group 14, a US start-up developing an energy-dense silicon anode material for lithium-ion batteries, has formed a joint venture with South Korea’s SK Materials that will build a plant for the material in South Korea. SK will put $52 million into the facility, which is set to open in 2022. Group 14 opened a plant in Washington State earlier this year.
