The Finnish energy firm Neste has bought a minority stake in Alterra, an Ohio-based company with pyrolysis technology for converting waste plastic into an oil with properties similar to crude. Neste and Alterra will fine-tune the process and license it globally. Using its own process, Neste has fed its Finnish refinery with more than 500 metric tons of liquefied plastic waste.
