Ascend buys into a spot in Jiangsu, China

The nylon 6,6 producer Ascend Performance Materials is purchasing the assets of the Chinese plastics makers NCM and Tehe Engineering Plastic. Ascend says the move gives it a valuable footprint at an industrial park in Jiangsu, China, where it plans to expand nylon compounding capacity and set up an R&D center. Ascend CEO Phil McDivitt says the park’s location near Shanghai and China’s automotive industry are a big part of its appeal.
